Choosing the right employer can be difficult for many job seekers, but for some, like Katriina Virtanen, the decision was easy. After finding Vaimo's job advertisement for a digital marketing internship, she was inspired to apply. She now works as a Digital Marketing Trainee for Vaimo in Helsinki, but as of April 2023, she will move into a new exciting role as Digital Marketer for Finland.
"I was looking for an internship to learn new things and practice and apply what I've already learned. Overall, the ecommerce sector seemed like an exciting learning environment."
Her early interests and creative hobbies influenced Katriina’s career path. "I've always enjoyed creative hobbies, like drawing and painting, but I am also meticulous," says Katriina. So when she started thinking about her future career and what she wanted to study, she was looking for a field where she could work with creative tasks but also ones that involved problem-solving.
She pursued a Bachelor's Degree Program in Experience and Service Design, which inspired an interest in marketing and how service design methods can benefit it. Alongside her studies, she started working at Vaimo in 2022.
"The best thing about my job is that I get to do creative work where I can constantly learn new things, share my ideas, and try my skills." She is motivated by the new exciting tasks and responsibilities she takes on as her skills grow. And Katriina appreciates the support she receives from the experienced team she works with.
Work-Life-School Balance
In her free time, Katriina still enjoys drawing and painting, but she also likes the outdoors and listening to audiobooks. Again, Vaimo's support in balancing work, school, and leisure time has been vital. "Sometimes combining studies and work can be quite challenging, but I've managed it well, thanks to Vaimo’s flexible working hours," she says.
“One of the perks of working at Vaimo is the opportunity to work in an international environment and witness interesting developments and innovations in the ecommerce industry. But I also love the relaxed and supportive atmosphere among colleagues and the opportunities to spend time with the team outside of work.”
