The benefits of being accessible to all

Better UX

Accessible design often leads to improvements that benefit all users, such as better navigation, clearer content structure, and faster loading times. Enhanced usability can lead to longer site visits and higher engagement rates.

More traffic + conversions

By making digital content accessible to everyone, potential markets that might otherwise be excluded are opened, increasing overall conversion rates.

Legal compliance

Meeting accessibility standards helps businesses comply with legal requirements and avoid potential lawsuits. Many countries have laws and regulations mandating digital accessibility.

Future-proofing

As technology evolves, ensuring accessibility helps keep digital content adaptable and usable across different devices and platforms, making it more future-proof.

Accessibility FAQs

Digital accessibility ensures that websites, apps, and other digital tools are usable by people with disabilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers.

It expands your customer base, enhances user experience, and is often legally required. It also demonstrates social responsibility and can improve SEO.

Legal requirements vary by country, but common regulations include the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in the US and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) globally. The European Accessibility Act (EAA) rolled out in 2025. Non-compliance can lead to lawsuits and fines.

Start with an accessibility audit to identify issues. Implement changes such as adding alt text to images, ensuring keyboard navigability, providing text transcripts for audio content, and using high-contrast color schemes.

Tools like Accessibility Cloud, WAVE, Axe, and Lighthouse can help identify accessibility issues. Additionally, hiring an accessibility expert or using accessibility overlay solutions can be beneficial.

Many accessibility practices, like using proper headings, descriptive link text, and alt text for images, also improve search engine optimization, leading to better visibility and higher rankings.
